Youth literacy rate
Youth literacy rate (15-24 years)
Health determinants and risks / Demographic and socioeconomic determinants
Sociodemographic risk factors
The percentage of population aged 15-24 years who can both read and write with understanding a short simple statement on his/her everyday life. Generally, ‘literacy’ also encompasses ‘numeracy’, the ability to make simple arithmetic calculations.
Literacy rates are computed by dividing the number of people aged 15–24 years who are literate by the total population in the same age group, the result is then multiplied by 100.
