Abbreviated Name:
Mortality between 30 and 70 years of age from cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes or chronic respiratory diseases
Indicator Name:
Mortality between age groups 30 and 70 (from cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), cancer, diabetes, or chronic respiratory disease)
Domain:
Health status / Life expectancy and mortality
Related Terms:
Mortality by cause, age group 30-70 yrs
Definition:
Total number of death among 30-70 years due to specific cause (cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory disease and diabetes) per 10,000. Unconditional probability of dying between the exact ages 30 and 70 years from CVDs, cancers, diabetes, or chronic respiratory diseases.
Measurment Method:
Deaths from these four causes will be based on the following ICD codes: 100-199, C00-C97, E10-E14, and J30-J98. Age–specific death rates are based on data on deaths by age, gender and cause of death, as generated by the Member States from their death registration systems.
Numerator:
Number of deaths between ages 30 and 70 years due to the four causes.
Denominator
Number of years of exposure.
Estimation method:
Modeling, using multiple inputs, is often used if no complete and accurate data are available.
The ICD codes to be included in the calculation are: cardiovascular disease: I00-I99, Cancer: C00-C97, Diabetes: E10-E14, or Chronic respiratory diseases: J30-J98.
To calculate age-specific mortality rate for each 5-year age group and country, for each 5-year age range between 30 and 70: total deaths from four major causes between exact age x and age x +5 divided by total population between exact age x and age x +5, Then translate the 5-year death rate to the probability of death in each 5-year age range and The probability of death from age 30 to 70 years, independent of other causes of death can be calculated (equation available at https://www.who.int/docs/default-source/documents/gpw/gpw13-who-impact-framework-indicator-metadata.pdf?sfvrsn=fc9dcebc_8

Disaggregation:
Place of residence, sex, socioeconomic status
Primary data sources:
Civil registration with high coverage and medical certification of cause of death (vital statistics systems)
Alternate data sources:
Household surveys, population-based health surveys with verbal autopsy
Measurment frequency:
Annual for civil registration
